1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using SmartBookReader ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and promptly notify us of any unauthorized use. Accounts may not be shared beyond the user limits of your plan.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload or process illegal content of any kind;
- Upload documents that infringe copyright or other intellectual-property rights you do not hold or have permission to use;
- Abuse, overload, probe, or attempt to circumvent the security or rate limits of the Service;
- Use the Service to harass others or to generate unlawful content.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Paid plans are billed monthly. Renewal is manual — your plan does not silently auto-charge; you choose to renew.
- Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated for the remainder of the billing period.
- Downgrades are not refunded; you keep the higher plan's features until the period ends.
- After a subscription expires or is downgraded, data exceeding your new plan's limits is retained for 60 days, after which it may be removed.
5. Intellectual property
You own your documents. Uploading them grants us only the limited license needed to store, index, and process them to provide the Service to you. We own the SmartBookReader platform, software, branding, and everything that isn't your content.
6. Disclaimers
The Service uses artificial intelligence. AI answers can contain errors. That is precisely why every answer includes citations — always verify important answers against the cited source pages. Answers provided by the Service are informational only and are not legal, medical, financial, or professional advice. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SmartBookReader and its operators shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms, with notice where practicable. Upon termination, the data-retention rules in Section 4 apply.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and for users contracting with our UK entity, the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
